What is central to your theory of psychotherapy regarding the therapeutic relationship and the process of change?
This research-based paper represents your clinical journey as a MA Psychology Counseling Specialization student offering to the reader your resultant personal theory of counseling. This theory should be an integration of the various theories presented in curriculum blended with your own ideas of ethical and skilled practice. The paper should reflect your personal lens on ideally what practice in the chair could look like. After two years of theoretical curriculum experiential learning and internship we are interested in how you are shaping your own unique perspective about psychotherapy and how change comes about in the therapeutic relationship. The ideas you present in your paper should be cohesive and coherent.Questions1 What are specific ideas from the primary theoretical models we have studied ( Bowen Narrative Therapy Structural Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.) that you find especially useful as resources while developing your personal theory of counseling? Why? What ideas from these models do you not find particularly useful? Are critical of? Why? (In responding to this and the next question please do not simply summarize the theories we have studied.)
