Weekly Discussion Board Directions

No unread replies.22 replies.

Each Week (1 – 6 + the Self Introductions), All students must participate in Discussion Boards concerning course content. Each Discussion Board is worth roughly 4% of your course grade for a total of 30%.

PART 1: Two summaries of two different pieces of course content.

PART 2: Two responses to two different pieces of course content.

Description:

Part 1: Summary posts are ALWAYS due on Thursdays by 11:59 PM.

Students must summarize two pieces of Course Content, with no repeats of other classmates. (Week 1 is a grace period for learning; repeats of content after Week 1 will not earn credit).

In your discussion posts, be sure to link back to the content link you are summarizing or addressing. Make your discussion posts dynamic, engaging, and built to foster critical thinking and analysis from your classmates.

Submit at least one yes or no question to build a discussion; write only open-ended questions such as “Which of Newton Minow’s Six Principles seems the most relevant to you?” instead of “Do you think Newton Minow’s Six Principles are still important?” The first question seeks a critical answer; the second question seeks only a yes or no response. Your job is to engage your peers in an interactive, communication based weekly breakdown of what you are learning.

Opinions are great, but be sure to always re-direct your summaries to the material presented and write a post that doesn’t just regurgitate what we can read for ourselves, but a post that connects ideas across readings, modules, and content.

Use the Search feature in the Discussion Board BEFORE you post to avoid repeat content. Repeated pieces of content will be docked and/or receive zero credit. There’s plenty of material to go around and no need to repeat a reading a video or part of a lecture. Look in the Board FIRST before your submit!

Submit both summaries into ONE post.

Part 2: Response Posts: Response posts are due each week on SUNDAY by 11:59 PM. You must respond to two summary posts. If a summary post already has five responses, move on to other posts.

Your task is to respond/reply to two summary posts, which may include responding directly to the original post, or to another reply in the thread. Subthreads are great, but keep them on topic in order for them to count towards your grade. Your responses should be thoughtful, clearly written, and engage with the course material. Proofread your responses; spelling, grammar, and writing style count. You may draw on your own experiences, but should use the course content to inform and build your course responses. You may also pose new questions in your responses to keep the conversation active. Response posts that are off-topic or opinion-only will not earn full points.

Below, you will see a sample post, created by me, to help you visualize what the Discussion Boards look and feel like.

And the file that I upload is a sample from our prof. you can just follow the structure.

The second file is content that the prof gives us for the week 1 discussion board. we need to select one article and one video.
