Part 1

Using the course software, develop a simple JavaScript® element for your website and develop a website maintenance plan.

Validate your HTML code using the Markup Validation Service on the W3C® website, (www.w3.org) prior to submitting your web page(s).

Include the following in the maintenance plan:

  • Based on your usability test, what steps will take to update and improve your website?
  • Will you register a domain name and host your website live? If yes, with what host?
  • How else will you continue to maintain your website?

Part 2

Perform a usability test on your website home page.

Develop questions and work with a peer to answer questions on your site usability.

Run an automated accessibility test on the home page of your school website.

Use both the WebAim Wave (http://wave.webaim.org) and ATRC AChecker (http://www.achecker.ca/checker) automated tests.

Describe the differences in the way these tools report the results of the test. Did both tests find similar errors?

Write a half-page report that describes the results of the tests and includes your recommendations for improving the website.
