Tooth Rotation, 11.31 Mastering Physics
Torsiversion is amedical condition in which a tooth is rotated away from its normalposition about the long axis of the root. For example, the firstpremolar in thefigure is not only displaced slightly in thenegative direction, it isalso rotated clockwise from its properorientation. To correct this condition, an orthodontist might usean archwire and a bracket to apply both a force and a torqueto thetooth. In the case shown, the forces and produce a net force in the positive direction of 1.7 and a torque about the center of the tooth (theorigin of the coordinate system)of 0.0097 .The question asks to find the forces F1 and F2. I am not surehow to set up the equations. Thanks.
