In this assignment you must propose a new advertising campaign for a brand or product ofyour choice. If you wish, you may use the same brand or product as you did in assignment 1. The conceptualframework for this campaign should be closely related to ideas from one of the following three topics of yourchoice:LuxuryRepresentationNostalgiaYou should cover concepts and ideas related to one of these topics based on materials from in-class and theassigned readings for the relevant week (available on C4). The concepts you use should inspire the approachthe campaign will take. You can design any kind of advertising or marketing campaign you wish, but youshould use a discussion of key concepts and your own critical perspective to explain the decisions that youhave made about this campaign in your presentation, and then reflect in them in your submitted report.You will be asked questions about your campaign following your presentation, with the aim behind thesequestions be a critique or “crit” of your approach.You will then need to submit to C4 a 700-800 word reflective report explaining the thinking behind your ideasand how your advertising pitch relates to key concepts from the topic that you have chosen. This report willbe due by the end of week 6 (Friday the 7th of June).Your presentation, Q&A, and reflective report will be marked according to the following criteria:Knowledge and understandingYour presentation should include a thoughtful discussion of concepts relevant to this course thatdemonstrates to the audience your knowledge and understanding of the material. You should include multiplereferences concepts from class and from the assigned reading for the week that corresponds to your topic.Critical PerspectiveYour presentation should include your proposal for an advertising campaign, using your own criticalperspective to take concepts from the academic literature and turn them into a practical proposal for acampaign. Your report should be self-reflexive and consider the meanings and implications of these conceptsin light of the campaign that you have proposed.Presentation and communication skillsYour presentation should be clear and fit the time requirements, and be well-directed towards the audience.Referring to notes is fine, but you should remember to speak towards the room and connect with youraudience in some way. All references, quotations, and paraphrased passages should be clearlyacknowledged in your presentation. You may also use the whiteboard, or include slides, posters, very shortvideos or animations, handouts, play music, recite poetry, perform a dance, or employ other non-traditionalapproaches to delivering a presentation if you wish.Creative or non-traditional presentation formats are very welcome, but please email me with your plans tomake sure they are appropriate.
