This is a 2-part item.

1: You are to write a technology proposal making your suggestions of suitable sustainable technologies to the management team. Your proposal should address the needs of all the employees, provide suitable security, and meet the overall objective of reducing costs and environmental footprint of the company. Your proposal should be 2-4 pages, be written in a manner that a non-techie could understand the details of what you are proposing, and identify how the suggestion will increase sustainability.

In this scenario, you are a network administrator working for a small company. The management team and the majority of the employees have made the decision to start an environmental sustainability initiative that supports the company’s goals. Your role in the initiative as the lead IT is to help identify suitable sustainable technologies to replace the older Active Directory/Exchange Server/Windows client network. The company’s workforce consists of 30 employees. 6 of the employees are required to travel extensively and the company provides them laptops and Blackberry phones. All the others will require access to company communications and others will require greater access and features to fulfill their jobs from office related tasks to developing models of prototypes.

Task 2: The company business manager asked you about the requirements for the disposal of the equipment being replaced. You will write the manager a 1-page business report explaining the applicable regulations for the disposal of the equipment and the efforts you will undertake to insure the company and personal information is maintained before leaving company grounds.
