Sexual History Taking: Case Presentation/Sensitive Issues in the Treatment of Special Populations
Sexual History Taking: Case Presentation/Sensitive Issues in the Treatment of Special Populations
Describe a special population (any marginalized group, e.g., transgendered individuals or people with intellectual disabilities), evaluating and supporting the population\’s need for a tailored (versus general) approach during a sex therapy session\’s sexual history taking. Use a case presentation featuring a fictional individual who is seeking help to address hypothetical sexual response concerns. The case presentation will provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to recognize clinical issues specific to a group that is often disrespected, mistreated, or misunderstood when receiving counseling services; perform a thorough literature review in identifying the current best evidence practices to address issues; apply the information to clinical practice; and gain experience educating peers about the topic of concern.
It would be helpful to review a case study of how to conduct a sexual history with an individual from a special population.
