Rutgers university Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal Paper

Please review the topic below and follow the instructions carefully:

Write a paper that answers the following question:
What one factor (for example, the economy, politics, government, technology, immigration, labor unions, etc.), one person or one event had the most substantial impact on the lives of American workers during the period 1914 to 1939?

In your paper, make sure to have a thesis (a general argument). Organize your paper into paragraphs. Each paragraph should have a central idea, set forth in a topic sentence. Support your thesis with facts from the reading for the course. (Do not do any outside research for this paper or rely on any sources from beyond the reading in the course.) Have a brief concluding paragraph that summarizes your thesis.

Avoid abstractions; ground your argument in fact. The best papers will use detailed facts from the course reading. Try to use primary as well as secondary sources. If you quote, quote only from primary sources. Try to consider counterarguments to your thesis.

Style:
Avoid run-on sentences (e.g., “It snowed yesterday I stayed home all day.”)
Avoid sentence fragments (e.g., “Because it rained yesterday.”)
Avoid contractions (e.g., “can’t” “don’t)
Avoid first person (“I” “my”)
Use passive voice sparingly (The active “John kicked the ball” is better than the passive “The ball was kicked by John”)
Use quotations sparingly. Paraphrasing is generally better.
Copying verbatim without citation is plagiarism
Avoid typos — proofread your paper before handing it in. Use spellcheck.

Citations:
For specific facts and quotations, cite to the source of your information.
Citation style: (SR p.__), (AWAU p. ___), (WBA p.___)
