Hi everyone, for my field trip I went to the Museum of Tolerance. I got there after three o’clock so I was told the only exhibit I could view because of the time was Anne Frank. This exhibit is timed, so you watch videos or listen to an audio recording of a girl who portrays Anne, while also looking at photographs, letters, and other items through glass. I found this made the exhibit a little bit more interactive than just looking at paintings, for example, because the situation for each photograph was explained you walked through the events of Anne’s Life. I’ve already done my fair share of research on the Holocaust, but this prosecution of the Jewish is never any less painful. It makes me reflect on my own morals, and my prejudices of people. I also discovered many new things about Anne Frank that I did not know before (I have not read her diary) and was amazed to find out what a bubbly, happy, and creative person she was. She even learned to write in English so she could communicate with her pen pal, there was no separation of people in her mind, it seemed. It’s sad to think that such a horrible event in history could be repeated all over again, so I would say it is vital to learn about our past mistakes, learn about people, so that we really will be better.
