FORMAT FOR THE SUMMARY/ABSTRACT PAPER

Study Purpose(s):Explain clearly and completely what the purpose(s) of this study was/were. This information is most typically found in the paragraph(s) just before the methods section starts.
Study Hypothesis/Hypotheses (if any are stated in the article):State clearly the hypothesis (hypotheses) that the authors offered in their review of the literature.NOTE:An hypothesis is a statement that explains what the researchers thought they were going to find in their study.In some articles, no hypotheses are forwarded.If that is the case for your study, just state that.
Study Design:Explain what type of study this was (field study, field experiment, lab experiment).
Study Procedures:Explain how study was conducted and/or how data were collected.If you do this well, the reader will see exactly how the study was done.
Study Participants:Describe the participants in terms of the number, age, gender, and any other relevant characteristics.Also explain how participants were selected or recruited.
Study Instruments;Describe the instruments that were used to measure the study variables.
Results:In 1-2 paragraphs, explain the main results from this study.Be complete enough that the reader gets a clear idea as to what was found.
Discussion:Write a summary of the discussion section from this article.In particular, you should include the following things:
a.the main “take-away” message the authors suggest
b.possible directions/topics for future research
c.recommendations/suggestions for practitioners
d.limitations to the current study
FINAL NOTE:Be sure that you are providing a clear and complete description of the study in your summary/abstract.After reading your summary/abstract, the reader should have a very clear idea as to what the study was about and what was found.If there is a lack of clarity, points will be deducted.
