Manufacturing 1: a thin, flat panel for equipment housing is precision machined by a numerically controlled cutting machine; 16small panels are cut from each large metal sheet; 30%of the panels do not meet the dimension specification because one of the dimensions is too large or too small. This is costing a lot of time and money in scrap and rework.
