Health care organizations

Health care acquired conditions (HACs) are problems that a patient develops when going on or after the completion of the entire treatment process. These conditions cause infections in various parts of the body depending on which treatment the patient was going through. Some infections if not controlled in advance can be very fatal and cause a lot of suffering to the patient. The center for Medicare and Medicaid has a well published list of these conditions which acts as a guideline to health organizations and patients as well (Haque et al., 2018). Through this, health care professionals and organizations are able to know which tools and strategies to use so that they can minimize these conditions and reduce cost of treatment for patients which is brought by the health care acquired conditions.

Health care organizations have therefore put across many strategies to reduce these HACs. The government has also put it like a mandatory issue or rule that health care organizations should follow these strategies to the latter for them to be allowed to continue operating (Lawton et al., 2020). To begin with, health care organizations have come up with various tools such as those for reducing CLABSI (Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections) and CAUTI (Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection). For example, the CAUTI tools aids in minimizing the risk of urinary tract infections which might even affect the reproductivity of the patient. The second strategy or measure is encouraging patents to eat well. Patients’ meals should be well balanced to ensure that they get all the required nutrients which also help in quickening the healing process. Health care professionals and organizations ensure that the meals offered to patients are well balanced while in hospitals. They also give a clear guideline on what the patient should take when he goes at home.

Health care organizations also put a lot of emphasis on the importance of exercise. The organizations ensure that through their health care professionals, all patients go through the exercise activities depending on their health and capability. Health refreshes the mind and enables the body organs to function well. Finally, health care organizations ensure that their patents are spiritually and mentally fit (Rubin, 2019). When a patient is in peace with himself, the body functions well and the medicine will be able to complete the work it was taken for. In a nut shell, if all health organizations should ensure they put into practice all these strategies to ensure their patients do not suffer again after they get healed and discharged from the hospital for issues that could have been prevented before.

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) publishes a list of health care-acquired conditions (HACs) that reasonably could have been prevented through the application of risk management strategies. What actions has your health care organization (or have health care organizations in general) implemented to manage or prevent these “never events” from happening within their health care facilities? Support your response with a minimum two peer-reviewed articles.
