Malware can be classified into different categories in order to gain a better understanding of what they are, what they do, how they differ from one another, and the level of threat they pose to a computer or system (Kaspersky, n.d.).

Given the current state of malware, research recent outbreaks of ransomware and discuss the following:
- How is ransomware rising to the top of the malware chain?
- How could ransomware threaten Saudi companies, personnel systems, and others? Disclose methods of ingress into systems as well as methods of countering the threat.
