The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted 3-2 on February 26, 2015 to approve reclassifying fixed and wireless Internet service providers (ISPs) as telecommunications providers, not information services. That means ISPs will now be regulated, similar to phone companies, under much stronger legal authority granted by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. A lot has changed since then. Complete the following:
- What is “net neutrality?”
- Summarize your article
- What major groups are in favor of this reclassification?
- What major groups are not in favor of this reclassification?
- How will the current laws affect individuals, businesses, and the country as a whole?
