CS125 (C Language) Homework

So far we know only a little. But with the bits that we know, we can already build real solutions. The key is to assemble the solution in steps, one little part at at time.

In this assignment, you are required to follow the process of “build-a-little test-a-little”, and prove it by saving a copy of your solution after each step on your way to building the complete solution. Keep in mind that as you go from one step to the next, you may need to rearrange things. Don’t assume that new stuff goes at the end.

In this assignment you will be using cascading if, else if’s, and else (or nesting, but a good solution should only cascade with if and else if’s, and not use an if within an if), and compound conditionals.

If you are just starting out in your journey of learning how to make programs that work, the key lesson here is that writing (or pasting) a lot of code, and then trying to get it to work, is a doomed approach. It does not work of novices or experts. Even if you got lucky, for the novice you won’t have learned anything, and for the expert, the code will not be something you can build on when it needs to grow.
