Part A

In this assignment, you will investigate and learn more about your own computer. Review the presentation W1 Lecture 2 as it will show you how to find the information on your computer.

  1. What is your operating system?
  2. How much system memory do you have (RAM)?
  3. How fast is your CPU?
  4. Do you have a 32-bit or 64-bit machine? A CPU can process 32 bits of information or 64 bits of information at a time (there are 8 bits in a byte). When you download software from the internet, sometimes there will be one link for a computer that has a 32-bit CPU and another link if it has 64-bit CPU. That is why it is good to know this.
  5. What is the size of your hard drive?

To answer the questions, you can go to the Message section in the assignment area and type out your answer to each one in the box. DO NOT hit submit until you do Part B of the assignment.

Part B – If you have MIcrosoft Office

In this assignment, we want to see that you are able to take a screenshot and also have Microsoft Office.

  1. Read the Screenshot Tutorial.
  2. Click on the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
  3. Click All Programs in the window.
  4. Scroll up or down until you see the Microsoft Office 2010 folder.
  5. Click on this folder. You should then see the Office products you have installed.
  6. Take a screenshot and save with file name YourLastNameOffice. For instance, if your last name is Jones, you would name the file JonesOffice.
  7. Read the Uploading Attachments Tutorial to upload the screenshot for your assignment.
  8. Submit your work by clicking the Submit button.

Your screenshot should look similar to this (although this is with 2013 instead of 2010):
