Abstract
The United States has employed military force
to intervene in numerous regional conflicts
throughout history, for various political and
humanitarian reasons, resulting in post-
conflict stability and pacification operations.
The experiences of the U.S. Marine Corps
during a period referred to as the “Banana
Wars” led to their publication of the Small
Wars Manual.

An article entitled American and British
Strengths and Weaknesses (2013) stated that
distance, terrain, and size of the country and a
lack of a primary center of gravity became the
key issues of concern for the British. Each of
these reasons were instrumental in prolonging
the war in America. Distance was a primary
disadvantage for the British Army. They had
to ship troops and supplies across the Atlantic.
Often, by the time orders arrived in London
with a request, the strategic troop situation had
changed. The text goes on further and
explains that the terrain and climate were
unfamiliar to the British Soldiers. For
example, the heat in the Southern colonies was
difficult to adapt to when strategy shifted from
New England in the North to the heart of the
South in Charleston, South Carolina. The

Conclusion
Summarize key concepts (main supporting
ideas) that reinforce the thesis… restate the
thesis in your conclusion… one to two

reader how the information presented
