Prepare a report in MS Word using the instructions below and using the bold text as your headings:

  1. Choosing an Effective Domain Name:
    Read through the two articles: How to Register a Domain Name and How to Get and Register a Domain Name and use the following search to locate additional articles about Choosing Effective Domain Names. Use a bulleted list to condense the information from the articles into a summary of the top ten points discussed in the articles (do not cut and paste). Include a list of hyperlinks to the articles you used for your research.
  2. Proposed Domain Names:
    Think up at least three domain names for a project Web site. Locate Network Solutions (or Internic) on the Web and check the availability of the three domains you selected. Try a variety of top-level domains (e.g. mysite.ca, mysite.com, mysite.org, etc.). List your three selected domains and indicate whether they are available or taken. ( my website plan is going to be about online shopping )
  3. Whois: For any of the domains that are not available, use the online “whois” database to find out who the owner and administrator for the domain is. If all your chosen domains are currently available find out who the administrator is for the college domain (camosun.ca) instead.
  4. Selection: Specify which of the available domains you would select for your project site and provide the reason for your choice.
  5. Domain Name Registrars: Locate a site that reviews domain registrars and summarize the reviews provided in point form (search for domain registrar reviews). Include a list of hyperlinks to the articles you used for your research.
  6. Canadian Domain Registrars: Use a search engine to find at least three Canadian Domain Registrars. Use a table to provide a comparison of their prices and services. Include a list of hyperlinks to registrar sites.
  7. Save the file as a word document, and then resave it as a PDF file onto your H: drive.
  8. Print your report and hand it in on the due date.
