BCJ 3601 DISCUSSION BOARD QUESTION UNIT VII
Discuss victimless crimes, and provide an example. Do you think these crimes are truly victimless? Why, or why not?
My classmate wrote this and I have to comment on it:
Victimless crime, also called consensual crime, refers to a crime that doesn’t directly harm the person or property of another. Victimless crimes are typically not included in the common law and are considered crimes mala prohibita. One example of victimless crime is prostitution. The victims of prostitution are mostly the prostitutes themselves. Prostitution is sexual harassment, rape, battering, verbal abuse, domestic violence, a racist practice, a violation of human rights, childhood sexual abuse, a consequence of male domination of women and a means of maintaining male domination of women.

HSL 2301 UNIT VII DISCUSSION BOARD QUESTION
Do you believe that ISIS is using social media to launch a “war of ideas”? If so, how? Is ISIS winning the war on mass and social media? Why, or why not?
In your peer reply, be sure to examine the different thoughts and viewpoints that your fellow peers have expressed about ISIS, mass and social media. Do you agree or disagree with their viewpoints?
This is what my classmate wrote and I have to comment on it :
Yes, I do believe that ISIS is utilizing social media to launch a “war of ideas”. Social media is the most efficient tool thus far in recruiting members for ISIS. According to Michael O’Hanlon, a Brookings Institution senior specializing in defense and foreign policy, “ISIS still draws about 1,000 foreign recruits a month to Iraq and Syria from nearly 100 different countries through social media”.
ISIS has benefited from the use of social media, in particular Twitter. Even though Twitter took a more forceful approach to ISIS’s use of Twitter in 2014, ISIS continues to remain in control over information that flows on the network. They establish accounts with strong privacy setting and have content shared through smaller unofficial accounts through the use of hash tags. ISIS also produces videos as tools of propaganda. They target particular audiences. ISIS has moreover proven its ability to synchronize its social media efforts with its strategic aims.
