Consider the available methods for disseminating research. Which two methods appeal to you and why?
Two methods of disseminating research that appeal to me are conferences and staff presentations. Conferences are interesting to me because they give healthcare professionals a chance to learn about new research that they wouldn’t have thought to research themselves, and ask questions directly to the people who conducted the studies. Presentations is method that appeals to me because presentations show research in a very clear, user friendly manner, allowing healthcare teams to discuss new evidence together and figure out how to apply it in their workplace.
Which method of dissemination will be most effective for your future practice?
As a future Family Nurse Practitioner, I think staff presentations would be the most effective way to share research. They provide an opportunity to communicate important information directly to nurses, providers, and other healthcare team members who can use it in their daily practice. They can be shown in many different settings, such as as modules for a homecare nurse to complete, or a powerpoint for an important staff meeting. Presentations can encourage discussion and allow team members to share and bounce off of each other’s ideas about how to improve patient care.
What steps can you take to share the results of your Week 7 project in a professional setting?
The steps I can take to share the results of my Week 7 PICOT project, could be to create a short presentation that explains the problem, the research I reviewed, and the prevention strategies that could help reduce pressure injuries. I could present it during a staff meeting or better, at an educational session at a healthcare facility. Hopefully, I will eventually have my own practice and merge my findings into my company’s practice policies. To make it last, I could share my results with simple handouts with key points and prevention tips that healthcare providers and caregivers could easily use as a reference.

Dissemination of evidence is an important responsibility for advanced practice nurses because research findings have little impact unless they are shared and translated into practice. Two methods of dissemination that appeal to me are poster presentations and podium presentations. Poster presentations allow researchers to share key findings in a visual format that encourages one-on-one discussions with attendees. This method provides opportunities for networking and receiving feedback from colleagues. Podium presentations also appeal to me because they allow presenters to discuss their projects in greater depth and engage a larger audience through questions and discussion. Both methods provide opportunities to share evidence and encourage practice change.
Which method of dissemination will be most effective for your future practice?
For my future practice as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, dissemination through podium presentations will likely be the most effective method. Presenting evidence at professional conferences, hospital educational sessions, or grand rounds allows for direct communication with healthcare providers and stakeholders who can influence clinical practice. The opportunity to explain findings, answer questions, and discuss implementation strategies may increase the likelihood that evidence is adopted into practice.
What steps can you take to share the results of your Week 7 project in a professional setting?
To share the results of my Week 7 project in a professional setting, I would first summarize the project’s purpose, intervention, outcomes, and recommendations. Next, I would create a professional poster using the Canva application to visually present the evidence supporting a nurse-driven nonpharmacological delirium prevention bundle for older adults transferred from the ICU to a medical-surgical telemetry unit. I plan to request time on the agenda at an upcoming Unit Practice Council meeting and share the poster with nursing colleagues and unit leadership. Presenting the project in this setting would provide an opportunity to discuss the evidence, answer questions, and gather feedback from stakeholders. In the future, I would also consider presenting the project at a nursing conference or sharing the results through a quality improvement report to promote broader dissemination and encourage evidence-based practice changes that improve patient outcomes.
